[ BOOK LIVES ] Now That You Are Mine by Trine Søndergaard

Trine Søndergaard is a celebrated Danish photography-based visual artist.

Now That You Are Mine is a series of photographs photographs of prostitutes made between 1997-1978, on the streets where Søndergaard used to live in the Skelbækgade area of Copenhagen.

Her color images, mostly taken with direct flash, are harsh. For lack of a better phrase, they are right in your face.

Some of the images are so intimate that I had thought for a long time that this was about her own life.

This series propelled Søndergaard into the international stage but judging from her latest works on her website, she has moved on in term of style and approach.
