“Given her status in the art world, Dayanita Singh is totally capable of building a real museum in the real world.”
Now that sounds flattering but it can actually come across as condescending and patronizing.
Especially when one is writing about Museum Bhavan, a wonderful volume published by Steidl.
Are we saying that because it is a box of books, then it is not a real museum?
Wait a minute, but this is really a REAL museum that has gone from London to Frankfurt to Delhi to Tokyo.
Hang on, a museum that moves? Yes, this is mobile.
So repeat after me, “If Dayanita Singh calls this a museum, then it is a museum.”
