Turning Point

[ Turning Point ] Watching this 5-part documentary series on 911 on Netflix and being reminded of so many things, some new, some old.

Didn’t fully comprehend the outcry of the atrocities in Guantanamo until hearing more from people who stood up against the draconian handling.

The documentary utilizes archival audio, video and still images in an intelligent way to fill in the gaps, then stringing everything together with new interviews. Not new approach but still done very well.

I didn’t realize how much I had missed New York or the idea of New York until being reminded that amidst the chaos and pungency is a city that excites me most of the time.

That melting point that is talked about has more effects than on the surface.

It is still sad thinking about the events of 911 and the days, weeks and months that followed.

Watching, again, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell lying to justify whacking Iraq makes my blood boils again. Sadly reminded of the arguments I had with people including a few who told me point blank “so what if they lied?”

Other than those who passed on, where are they now? The world didn’t seem interested to hold them accountable because there is a bigger moron in Trump.

Mapping that against what happened in Afghanistan in recent days, I can’t help thinking WTF, are we going back to square one now?
