[ BOOK LIVES ] Deeds of War by James Nachtwey

Unlike many photo book lovers, I am not particularly interested in getting them signed by the authors.

No doubt the value of a book is likely to increase if it is signed but I have very little interest in the possible monetary returns.

To put it bluntly, I have zero intention to sell my books. As I have said many times before, one day I will donate my collection.

More importantly, I can’t begin to tell you the number of photographers I ended up disliking after meeting them. So it’s better to just like the works.

I did make an exception with James Nachtwey. Yes, I can be such a fan boy.

When I was a student, I met an editor who told me he always traveled to photo seminars with a copy of this book, in case he runs into, you know, Mr Nachtwey.

I kinda became a groupie too but when I actually met him, I think I was too in awe to even breathe properly.

My copy is a first edition and in good condition, and yes, I am aware how much it can fetch.

Sell it? I would sell my blood to keep this if I have to.
